Hon. Allan Ray Earl

Allan R. Earl was a distinguished Nevada attorney and jurist whose career spanned nearly five decades. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree, Cum Laude, from Brigham Young University in 1965, followed by a Juris Doctorate from the University of California's Boalt Hall School of Law in 1968. Admitted to the State Bar of Nevada in 1968, he began his legal career as a law clerk to the Nevada Supreme Court from 1968 to 1969.

For 25 years, Earl served as a partner in the Las Vegas law firm of Galatz, Earl & Associates, where he specialized in personal injury trial advocacy. He earned the highest possible "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell and was recognized in the original edition of Best Lawyers in America. His leadership in the profession was extensive - he served as President of the Western Trial Lawyers Association, President of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association (now the Nevada Justice Association), and as Nevada's Lawyer Governor to the Board of Governors of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He also served for more than 21 years on the Nevada Supreme Court Board of Bar Examiners and on the select committee to redraft the discovery rules of the Nevada Rules of Civil Procedure. Among his honors were the Nevada Justice Association's Peoples Distinguished Counselor Award in 1994 and its lifetime achievement award.

In 2000, Earl was appointed to the Nevada Eighth Judicial District Court bench by Governor Kenny Guinn, and he served as a District Court Judge until 2014. He also represented Nevada at the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference. Remembered as a man of honor and integrity, Chief Judge Elizabeth Gonzalez described him as "a wonderful human being who taught many lawyers how to think."
