David Allen Huff
David Huff earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Iowa. He served as a naval officer with a tour of duty in Vietnam, including work in the Judge Advocate General's Corps and service as a military judge. Over the course of his legal career he was admitted to practice in Iowa in 1965, in California in 1970, and in Nevada in 1985.
Huff moved to Fallon in 1982, where he maintained a private law practice for roughly eleven years. In 1996 he was elected to the bench, serving the communities of Fallon and Yerington in Nevada's Third Judicial District Court. When the Nevada Legislature created the Tenth Judicial District Court, Huff became its first judge in January 2012.
Across fifteen years on the bench, Huff was regarded as a steadying presence in Nevada's rural courts. He died on March 22, 2012, at a Carson City hospital at the age of 72. Chief Justice Nancy Saitta remarked that it was 'difficult to lose such a fine judge, especially someone who has been a strong force in Nevada's judiciary during the past 15 years.'
