Diana Dawn Hampton - 1965-12-06 to 2016-03-13

Diana Dawn Hampton was a Nevada attorney and jurist who served as Chief Judge for the City of Henderson Municipal Court. A resident of southern Nevada from the age of two, she obtained her GED before setting her sights on a career in the law. She earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology from UNLV and later a law degree from California Western School of Law.

Before taking the bench, Diana worked as a deputy city attorney for Henderson and maintained a private family and criminal law practice. In 2005 she was elected to the Henderson Municipal Court, becoming the first female elected as a judge in the city of Henderson, and she was re-elected in 2011. She served as chief judge from January 2008 to December 2011 and was named senior chief municipal judge in January 2016.

During her tenure Judge Hampton was known for community-focused initiatives. In her second year as judge she created the Advance Interactive Driver's Education (AIDE) program, aimed at helping juvenile drivers become more alert and safer drivers. In January 2010 she brought the "Life of Crime" program to Henderson, centered on the everyday choices made by youth and including law enforcement demonstrations and accounts from current inmates about the consequences of their choices. She passed away on March 13, 2016, at the age of 50.
