Jeffrey David Sobel
Jeffrey David Sobel served as a District Court judge in Las Vegas for twelve years. Raised in Sherman Oaks, California, he attended Van Nuys High School, graduated cum laude from Cal State Northridge, and earned his law degree at UC Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He was admitted to the Nevada bar in 1969.
Before taking the bench he built a distinguished trial practice, serving as president of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association and as a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers, where he twice served as vice-president. He was known on and off the bench for his wit, intellect, and humor.
Judge Sobel died in June 2006 at age 62 after a short battle with stomach cancer. He is survived by his wife Susan, his son Steven, his daughter Jennifer, his parents, and his sister.
