Laurel E. Davis

Laurel E. Davis, a Utah native, earned a bachelor's degree in hotel administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and received her law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1987. She was admitted to the State Bar of Nevada that same year and went on to practice law for 26 years across Nevada and Arizona, building a distinguished reputation in bankruptcy and commercial litigation.

In private practice she was a partner at Lionel, Sawyer and Collins and later a partner and director at Fennemore Craig, where she concentrated on bankruptcy matters. Her work drew national recognition - she was named a 'rising star' by Benchmark Litigation in 2012 and was included among the country's top 250 women in litigation in both 2012 and 2013.

In 2013, Davis was appointed to the bench as a judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Nevada, taking office on July 12, 2013. She served with distinction on that court, presiding over significant matters in the district. Laurel E. Davis died on November 19, 2018, at the age of 62.
