Lloyd D. George - February 22, 1930 to October 7, 2020

Lloyd Dee George served as a United States district judge for the District of Nevada and is the namesake of the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas. Born in Montpelier, Idaho, and raised in Las Vegas, he was class president of Las Vegas High School's class of 1948, earned his degree from Brigham Young University in 1955, and served as a United States Air Force officer from 1955 to 1958, flying B-47 long-range bombers and reaching the rank of captain.

After earning his law degree from Berkeley's Boalt Hall in 1961, he practiced law in Las Vegas from 1961 to 1974 while also serving as a Clark County justice of the peace from 1962 to 1969. He became a United States Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Nevada in 1974 and served a decade there before his elevation to the district court, where his name now stands over the federal courthouse in downtown Las Vegas.
