Norman C. "Robbie" Robison - May 4, 1937 to August 9, 2015
Norman C. "Robbie" Robison, known throughout the Nevada legal community simply as "Robbie," built a long and distinguished career of public service that culminated on the bench. Born May 4, 1937, he grew up in Elsinore, California, and joined the Navy in 1954. He was admitted to the Nevada bar in 1971, embarking on a legal career that would span more than four decades in the state's courts.
In 1982, Governor Robert List appointed him a District Court Judge in Douglas County, where he presided until retiring from the bench in 1994. His service to Nevada's judiciary did not end there - he went on to become a Senior Court Judge, traveling throughout the State of Nevada to hear cases until his retirement in January 2015. Among all the matters he handled over his years on the bench, adoptions were, by far, his most favored cases.
Judge Robison's legacy reached beyond the courtroom. He worked alongside Judge Howard McKibben to create the China Springs Youth Camp, personally helping to clear and build the land, beginning with cutting the road into the facility. Remembered for his dedication to the law, to young people, and to the communities he served, he passed away August 9, 2015, at the age of 78.
