Hon Susan Williams Scann

Susan Williams Scann earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in 1968 and her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 1976, where she served on Law Review and authored a case note on Tucker v. Lassen Savings & Loan Association. After gaining admission to the bar in both California and Nevada, she moved to Las Vegas in 1977 to begin her legal career at the firm of Jones, Jones, Bell, Close & Brown.

Over a civil practice spanning some 34 years, she became a partner at Deaner, Deaner, Scann, Malan and Larsen. She was deeply engaged in the professional community, serving as president of the Southern Nevada Association of Women Attorneys, as a member of the State Bar Ethics Committee, the Clark County Bar CLE Committee, and the Clark County Fee Dispute Committee, and as a founding member of the Clark County Bar Pro Bono Committee. She was also a member of Rotary International.

In 2010, fulfilling a lifelong aspiration, Susan was elected as a judge of the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, where she served on the bench until her passing.
